Myself as many other veteran MWC anglers had a very poor showing in the points this year. Sooo you know where I'm going with this.

I've thought hard about how this would sound but I liked the idea of a lottery. There will be many new teams next year. As this year, there are teams that do not sign up as earlybirds, waiting to see "how they do" in the first one or two tourneys. A lottery open to everyone that fishes all four would help fill the last two tourneys. I'm sure of that. Years ago "sorry Kaz" all of the first, second and third place teams were invited to the WWC. I rember a team that only caught two fish in one qualifier that made it.(1987 or 1988). Then we went to the winner of each qualifier making it to the WWC if they competed in at least two tournys.

This was a BIG reason the final tournys filled!!!

I think I would feel this way if I finished the year #10 or #46. We have to do what it takes to fill ALL of the qualifiers making the MWC even a stronger circuit. The idea of Wild Cards will go a long way to ensure just that.

Feels like I,m trolling upstream,

Yes Mike, I do remember all of what you stated.

For the MWC staff, the "season" never ends. I can assure you that we're hashing out many circuit topics and issues. Kristine Houtman for one, is really burning the midnight oil.

Mike, it was great having you back and being able to talk with you about the MWC at this year's tournaments........"Kaz"

I'll go upstream on this one too. But then again, I'm someone who could benefit from the lottery drawing. I loved the idea of a lottery, but knew if we were picked we would get some rough looks from people who earned the right to be in the championship. I even stayed at work late to watch the drawing that never happened. Either way, I'll still fish MWC tournaments in the future. I'll make it to that championship some how, some way, some day!!!

Kinda glad to hear from a few "brave souls" that dared to post against the grain. Maybe this idea was just too radical for right now. Maybe "entry" into the championship isn't the right incentive as that should be reserved for those that earn their way there -- maybe something else (cash is always good). I don't know. But glad to hear we weren't completely insane in what we were liking and thinking about this wildcard concept. We'll put together another Angler Advisory Panel for 2003 and we'll talk over things like this (and others) -- to get angler input. Thanks everyone -- for your contributions to this topic.

We are scheduling to mail the tournament rules and entry forms for 2003 on December 2nd. We will mail to everyone that was a member in 2002. If you weren't a member but want a form please email us your snail mail address: events@masterswalleyecircuit.com

Regards,

Kristine

As long as this thread has evolved into a discussion about how to fill the field, what works, What dont, Id like to add my 2 cents.

Our team would have fished all four events if the Mille Lacs event had remained at Big Stoneperiod! We were prepared to enter as an early bird team. Fishing a tournament for 14-16 inch fish is out of the question. Scheduling an event on a body of water where the DNR had not announced if there would even be an open water season was a bad call as seen from this seat. Why pre enter a tourney where you dont even know what the rules will be?? Enough said on that.

One request/idea on the rules as you mentioned you are putting them together as I write.

Why not send all early bird teams out first on their own flight? That would be a big incentive for this team. Meaning, if you have 75 or 100 teams early bird, they go first, everyone else starts going out 15 minutes later. Day one, 1-75, day two 75-1. Then the field.

Kristine, as you may recall, my team was a bit perturbed at the fluctuating flight orders. One event the order is reversed top down, next event the order is split in the middle. PLEASE have all the local directors pick and use ONE flight order for the entire year! Whatever order that may be!

Thanks for your time.

Well how about it, now that your not scabbing 5 lottery spots, don't you think you should invite teams 41-45 to the WWC. Try your idea next year & you can count early birds,(probably on two hands) & see if it was a good idea. As far as 41-45, don't invite them at the last minute. They have day jobs & most are already on the S%*$ list after informing their employers of the well planed two tournaments in Sept. Wet Nets!! JIGEMUP
P.S. My idea of a lottery is a $1.00 quick pick. Not $2400.00+ !!! Personally afraid that we are going to loose this great circuit to the new RCL circuit.
