I'll second that question we are driving up from canada.

It's a Big River, Don't jump in if you can't swim!

Any chance we can have the daily check-in times moved back 1 hour since the day-light savings time changed? It would be nice to fish 8 hours as all other tournaments instead of 7 at Spring Valley only. It didn't change the start times and it would be just like the tournaments prior to 2008.

Hello anglers,

I just wanted to touch base on a couple of questions that have been posted recently.

We have been seeking information from our site coordinator Mike Hurless and Bill Guerrini of the Spring Valley Walleye Club and the Army Corps of Engineers in regards to the river (flood) conditions. If the tournament were held today with the present level of the river, we would have to cancel our tournament as the river is closed. However, since our tournament won't be held for another two weeks and with the present decrease of the river, we anticipate our tournament will go on as planned. As long as the river is not closed, we will be hosting our tournament on March 28th and 29th. If we run into a situation of flood conditions where Barto Landing is not available, we would make a decision to launch and host our weigh-in out of DePue where there is a navigable channel to the river. These decisions can not be made at this time since river conditions fluctuate on a daily basis. For up to date weather conditions, please visit:

Illinois River Conditions

In regards to the start and end times of the tournament, I completely agree with you Kolby. Since we are at 97 boats, the start time for all will be at 7am and the return time will be 3pm. We will be updating our fact sheet on the website to reflect this change.

Thanks!
