Now there’s also a super field of competition in the mix as well. Next up for the MWC Central Division is the May 17 & 18 stop at Marinette, WI/Menominee, MI on the Bay of Green Bay. 139 teams have signed up to date (roster below) and more entries are still coming in. First place will pay out $20,800, second place $8,770 down to 24th place at $1,000. The purse is planned for $77,840 plus $3,650 in sponsor contingency bonuses for a total of $81,490. The quality of the Bay of Green Bay fishery coupled with the timing of this event would predict big fish and lots of them. “I’ll go out on a limb and predict that there will not be a single team with a zero!” laughed John Krueger, President of the Marinette-Menominee Great Lakes Sport Fishermen, which will assist the MWC with boat inspections and parking in the morning as well as weighing fish in the afternoons. “Not only will there be lots of fish, but there will be plenty of 8, 9 and 10 pounders brought in. It should be an amazing tournament,” added Krueger. The MMGLSF (see www.mmglsf.com) has been working with the DNR for more than fifteen years in stocking and improving the fishery. Some of what we will see in this tournament will be the results of those efforts. The Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit has long been a partner in conservation efforts in every community that hosts a tournament. $15 from each team’s entry fee will be given to the MMGLSF for their continued good stewardship of this resource, which will amount to $2,085. Lowrance Electronics is hosting two FREE advanced classes led by high-tech fisherman Bruce “Doc” Samson. Samson will cover advanced GPS & Mapping on Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm and advanced Sonar on Thursday evening, same times. The classes are free and open to MWC anglers as well as the general public and will be held at Nest Egg Marine in Marinette.
