Did you know that by fishing the MWC anglers can qualify for the Cabela's National Team Championship AND the RCL Championship in addition to the MWC's World Walleye Championship?

Out of the final twelve that made the cut for the "pro" side of the RCL Championship -- six (HALF) fished at least one, and usually more, MWC tournaments this year or last.

Congratulations to the following for making the cut. Good luck today and tomorrow; and may the best MWCer WIN. (MWCers with *)

*Randy Carroll of Oswego, IL
*Scott Allar of Welch, MN
Sam Anderson of Inver Grove Heights, MN
Mike Lacher of Bismarck, ND
Jerry Hein of Stillwater, MN
Douglas Vandersteen of Lundar, MB
*Bob Bodin of Red Wing, MN
*Jim Schulta of Hazelhurst, WI
*Tom Kennan of Hatley, WI
David Rhodes of New Wilmington, PA
*Steve Lotz of Lena, IL
Steve Lamb of Nashville, TN

Also -- congrats to the following co-anglers; two of the twelve fished at least one MWC tournament this year:
Richard Volkman of St. Paul, MN
Darrell Archey of Great Falls, MT
Luke Kersten of Boyceville, WI
Glenn Rosenfeldt of Sabin, MN
*Chad Carroll of Alma, WI
Susan Hugill of Pine City, MN
Audrey Robb of Dryden, ON
Larence Hoff of Flasher, ND
*Phil Piscitello of Chicago, IL
Derek Ferestad of Overland, KS
Rob Jimenez of Missoula, MT

Good luck in the final two days!

Kristine

Can you explain how we qualify for the Cabela's National Championship.
We have talked about this but I think everyone would like to know.
Thanks
Schmitty

Last year we invited the top three finishers of the four qualifying tournaments as we had 12 spots to fill. Some of them could not attend so we went further down the roster until we filled the spots.

We also have 12 for next year but want to make sure our Teams of the Year and Champions are included in the invite as well. So we will be sending out correspondence to the teams shortly to find out who will accept the spots; and then finalize who will be in it.

Tentatively:
1 - Glenn & Carol Chenier
2 - Tim & Jim Minnema
3 - Michael & Don Olson
4 - Mark Meravy & John Broncato
5 - Joe Fisher & Chad Swanson
6 - Bert Wilson & Don Solis
7 - Terry & John Oakes
8 - Rich Huebner & Tim Giese
9 - Lloyd Polfus & Gary Zalewski
10- Rob Krause & Dave Dretske
11 - D.J. Siewert & Corey Meincke
12 - Jim Siewert & Tom Diercks

Wouldn't it make sense to just invite the top 12 finishers?

Can you please explain that a little more. Are those based on how teams did this year? I am a little confused so say the least.

What tournaments will you start with to replace those who decline?

And how did you arrive at the first 2 tournaments getting 3 picked and then next only 2?

This is a fuzzy picture.

Please spell out for us what it takes to qualify for the RCL and the Cabelas NTC championships by fishing the MWC circuit prior to the season. As you have heard we are very unclear on these issues. We probably made assumtions that were incorrect this year. We should take the assumptions out of the picture IMHO...

There are some of the names on the list that you may invite to the Cabela's who are local teams who only fished one or two tournaments. I would think you would want teams who would represent the MWC by fishing all of the tournaments which would be the teams of the year and the top 9 teams for the year.

I thought each tournament was a qualifier.
Never mentioned team of the year or the championship at all.

FYI -- I went three deep in SV because there were 220 boats there. Also, because the Cheniers took both TOY & Husband/Wife TOY they only took one spot so we had one more to go.

One reason I like doing a 'combination' of Team of the Year; Champions & individual tournament tops is that it creates another way for those teams to get to the World Walleye Championship. (Since the top five finishers in NTC are invited to the World Walleye Championship.)

We will find out who wants to go -- but any team that has a strong desire should put their request to go in writing to us. Sometimes openings crop up last minute!

Cabela's is looking at this differently this year, too. They are juggling "by state." So our winners will come out of their state allocations, too. Sounds confusing -- I don't envy them on figuring it out!

My opinion is; you should make it clear beforehand as to who gets the these choices.

And then there ought to be a pecking order base on finishes as to who gets chosen, should the winners decline to take the offer.

This would help my mind from wondering if the process is fair...
