Hi
Could anyone please let me know whereI could find a link to a discussion group where they know all about the technical aspects of outboard engines please ? I was looking at the Mercury Marine outboard specs for their two stroke 40 and 50 horsepower models and they are identicle except for the horsepower output. So I could probably buy a 40 and make it into a 50 if I knew their trick. Thanks for any help. |

Hi Kristine, thanks for helping me out, yes I'm sure someone here could help me.
I was talking to a friend and they think it is all in the carberators. The interesting thing is in the 50 HP model they only offer one shaft length (20 inches) but if i bought a 40 HP and made it into a 50 Hp then I would have the choice of two shaft lengths, ( 15 or 20 inches). I am wondering if it is just different carb setup or totally different carberators , if that is where the only difference is ? [This message has been edited by chester (edited 05-09-2003).] |

It is true that basically the only difference is in the carbs. At 123.00 a piece plus labor, just buy the 50 to begin with
if that what you want.Youd be money ahead.
