FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 9, 2004 For more information, contact: Eric Banks, 308-254-5505 Cabela�s looks north to Bays de Noc for 2004 National Team Championship SIDNEY, Neb. � It�s official � walleye anglers qualified for the 2004 Cabela�s National Team Championship can put Escanaba, Michigan, on their summer travel plans. The 3rd annual Cabela�s National Team Championship will be held in Delta County on Bays de Noc, near Escanaba and Gladstone, on June 11-12. �With 30,000+ acres of fishable water and a legendary walleye bite, Bays de Noc is the premier site for the 2004 National Team Championship,� said Eric Banks, external relations coordinator for Cabela�s. �Qualifying teams will find cooperative fish, friendly people and an atmosphere like no other in Delta County. Cabela�s 2004 National Team Championship is destined to be the best yet.� The Delta County Chamber of Commerce, U.P. State Fairgrounds, Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Downtown Development Districts of Escanaba and Gladstone will host the event. �The entire community is very enthusiastic about hosting Cabela�s National Team Championship,� said Vickie Micheau, executive director of the Delta County Chamber of Commerce. �With nearly 200 miles of freshwater shoreline, anglers are guaranteed a great experience learning the secrets of Little Bays de Noc. This time of year you can expect the walleye to be hungry and feisty.� The community will also host Destination Delta tours, lumberjack shows and other activities for anglers and their families and fans. �The community will roll out the red carpet and do everything we can to provide a positive experience,� said Jalene Polkey, local tournament coordinator and chairperson of the Delta Chamber of Commerce. Building on the incredible success of previous tournaments, the 2004 National Team Championship partners 44 walleye tournaments, circuits and clubs across the nation in a true national championship format. �Our 2003 event was an overwhelming success,� said Banks. �Anglers and fans alike agree the National Team Championship is the premier event for walleye team anglers.� The 2004 tournament will gather anglers from 30 states to compete for cash, value-added prizes and the chance to be named National Champions. -END- |
