A lot of people have been asking where they stand as far as making it to the 2010 Championship. This spreadsheet is to give everyone a snap shot of how the Championship field would play out if the season were to end today. The intent of this spreadsheet is to give everyone an idea as to where they sit prior to the Waubay Lake tournament. With that being said, a lot can change with the positioning of everyone depending on how the teams finish at Waubay. The teams that have Central and East written underneath the Championship Qualifier column are in the 2010 Championship. The teams that have ‘Probable draw’ after their names in the Championship qualifier column and are highlighted in blue or orange is who would make the Championship if the season ended as it stands today. Again, with that being said A LOT can change at the next event.
Current Challenge Team of the Year standings This is merely speculation and not an announcement of qualification for the Championship. The only teams that have guaranteed entry into the 2010 Championship are the teams that have East or Central listed under Championship Qualifier. A reminder that the Championship field is determined in this order: MWC West, MWC East, MWC Central, then MWC Challenge, Winner of the 2009 NTC and winner of the 2009 World Walleye Championship. We take the top 20% of the eligible MWC Challenge teams skipping over anyone who has already qualified for the Championship. At this point, we are projecting 7 teams qualifying for the Championship via the Challenge. Based on projections of the final unique team count in the West, we are projecting 6 teams being qualified for the Championship through the West. Two of the teams that are currently in the top six in the West are not eligible for the Challenge. With this being said, it looks like our 2010 Championship field will include: 6 teams from the West, 5 from the East, 9 from the Central, 7 from the Challenge, 1 from the NTC and 1 from the 2009 Championship for a total of 29 teams in next year's Championship. |
