We are discussing and hoping to have a new contest in place for the 2009 season. wanted to tell you about it here -- and hopefully have some clubs reach out and talk to us.

It will be a rookie contest. Only someone who has never fished an MWC before is eligible to enter -- and they must be a member of a sponsoring local club. A random drawing will take place in December of 2008. One lucky rookie team will win one tournament spot. An East club would win a spot in an East division tournament. A central division club would win a spot in a central division tournament. And a west club would win one in the west. Simple.

9 tournaments (3 East, 3 Central, 3 West)
9 rookie winners (3 East, 3 Central, 3 West)

The rookie winner could choose a partner -- the partner would need to be eligible to fish the MWC -- but as long as they weren't a full-division angler in the past they could be a partner. Maybe not more than 2 tournaments in the last 3 years??

The rookie must not have ever fished an MWC tournament before.

The sponsoring clubs would talk up the 2009 schedule and hopefully that would pay for why we would do this. Promotion. Getting new teams formed and into this.

Do you have a club that would be interested in something like this? If so, I'd like to hear from you. We're trying to figure out how to define a local club.

Maybe....something like this....but is not cast in stone yet.
a) has 30 members at least
b) has at least 1 tournament a year (that has an entry fee)
c) is willing to promote the 2009 MWC schedule on the newsletter/website, in their meetings, etc.
