Okay...so we didn't break the biggest fish from the MWC circuit history -- 12.34 pounds held by Tim Horneman & Mike Gibson of Lansing, IL from July 2000 on the Bay of Green Bay.
And we didn't break the 10 fish basket record of 68.4 pounds held by Dean Nathe and Paul Thompson of Wausau, WI. (we also didn't weigh a ten fish basket but the 9 fish winning weight was .88 pounds short of breaking that.
We did however, I THINK, break the 5-fish basket weight. Nate Capton of Niagra Falls, NY and Dave Waldeck of Sanborn, NY weighed in 5 fish on Sunday, May 22nd totalling 43.45 pounds. Does anyone have any stats from years past that could break that? That's an average weight of 8.69 pounds per fish. They were upgrading 6 and 7 pounders! Sheesh! Amazing!
Let me know if this stands as a new MWC record. Or if you think something else in the past exceeded this.
i thought i would mention that all the fish we caught at henderson harbor including the 5 fish basket of 43.45 lbs were caught on smithwick super rogues trolling 125' to 150' back between 12' & 15' down. it was great!!! We also meet a couple from New Jersey who there fishing for the big eyes but hadn't had any luck yet and we told them to use the smithwick's and to go fish where we were and i recieved an email from them the other day and they caught a 10 & 7.5 lber on Monday after the tourney. again a great tourney at HH. hope to go back next year with more teams!!
